The Castro Townhouse, San Francisco CA

This contemporary three-level Townhouse constructed in 2001 is located in the heart of the Castro, just below Corona Heights Park. It was redesigned in a collaboration by two former
co-workers and for two incredible trusting clients from the North Bay, who had “had enough of country living” and looking for a “show stopper” weekend home in the city.
The architectural changes were minimal; some of the rework included removal of the more traditional and unnecessary elements and updates in a more contemporary and purposeful way. It isn’t only the sculptural furnishings selection, but also the casual arrangement of the new furniture and the natural textures and the warmth of natural colors of finishes that ties the indoors to the numerous uniquely landscaped outdoor spaces; all creating a sense of expansive California living.
The use of visual cues from Point Reyes, such as life size wall murals of photographs taken around the client’s property, custom live edge wood furnishings, a magnificent drift wood deer head sculpture and patinated metals combined with a earth tone color palette, linked the environment contrasts between the rural daily life and the new weekend life in the city. All these components together make for a comfortable experience of a new yet familiar urban adventure.
